Spanish dream, nearly a reality!

Some of you who follow my blog and my Instagram already know my husband and I are in the process of purchasing a new home in Spain!

We went over to Spain in December to view some properties and we found our dream home.

So far, everything is pretty much going to plan and hasn't been too stressful, as of yet! We are just waiting on the survey results and then its full steam ahead.

We always knew that we would buy somewhere abroad, as it's something we have both dreamt of individually and the dream has just grown stronger and stronger since we've been together. We've been overseas now for four years and during that time we have been saving and playing around with ideas of where and what we will buy.

We are so excited we have finally nailed the dream down and can see the light (very clearly) at the end of the tunnel. These past few months we have been so good saving harder and cutting back on our luxuries. We cut back at Christmas, my husbands birthday in January and for my birthday in February, we are also keeping it low key, as we are just so close to the Spanish Dream.

I do love my clothes and my beauty products and having the 'fancy' nights out, but I think as you get older your priorities change slightly and you start to think more about the future. I do believe if you sacrifice a few things now, it means you will have so much more in the long term. I'm so proud of myself and especially my husband at how hard he's been working these past few years and how much we are both really knuckling down to make things happen for us.

We can't wait to start going with it and can just imagine it with colorful plants growing over the railings and a palm tree in the front. I don't think I've ever been so excited to get to a garden center! After renting these past few years it's going to be so nice to actually have a 'home' of our own. Even though initially it will be a holiday home as we are planning to do a few more years yet in the UAE.

We are going to take our time to decorate and furnish the house to our taste and not rush into getting everything on day one, as we want to make sure it's perfect for when we move in permanently. The house has four bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor, so that will be hubby's study. The three remaining bedrooms are on the first floor. Obviously we have the master bedroom, which has a lovely sized balcony off it. I can picture us sitting there in the mornings, with a cup of tea, taking in the Spanish air. So, that leaves two bedrooms, one will be the guest room and the other will be my dressing room! Argh, I'm so excited! I have always wanted a 'walk in' wardrobe, but to have a whole room just for my clothes, shoes and make up, well that is beyond all dreams.

We also have this gorgeous roof terrace, which we have a bunch of ideas of what we are going to do with it. I can tell this is going to be where we spend most of our time! As a bonus there is also a massive basement. It is just a shell at the moment, but has amazing potential and you can guess the first thing that went through hubby's mind... Man Cave!

Roll on March and let the good times begin!
