La Manga, Spain

As the Summer is officially coming to a close Mark and I decided we needed to have some sort of vacay/mini break before the end of the season. For obvious reasons we haven't had a holiday this year like many of us and after our stay at the Caleia was a bit of a flop, to put it nicely! (you can read the post about it hereWe decided to treat ourselves to a night away at one of our favourite hotels not far away from us in La Manga.

We first stayed at the La Manga Club Principe Felipe way back in January for Mark's birthday. We really enjoyed our stay back then and it didn't disappoint at the weekend either. We had a standard room, which we didn't get an upgrade this time, but even so the room was spacious and comfy. We had a beautiful view overlooking part of the golf course with the mountains in the distance. It was perfect.

We spent Sunday afternoon relaxing around the pool, topping up our tans. The water to be honest was a bit chilly! I did brave it and go in, but I couldn't stay in for long haha! Well it is the end of September so I can't really complain. There was a lovely light breeze which made the temperature perfect for sunbathing and being able to switch off from things for a few hours was just what we needed.

We had of course a couple of coffees by the pool. If you follow my Instagram you would probably have noticed we are a bit partial to a coffee by the pool!

As the sun moved round we headed back to the room and had some wine and crisps on the balcony before getting ready for the evening.

For dinner we strolled up to a lovely bar/restaurant literally five minutes walk from the hotel called La Barra. We've eaten there before in the past at lunchtime, but never in the evening. They have a really lovely outdoor seating area and when it gets dark the twinkly lights come on which makes it really pretty. The evening temperature was lovely, the food was gorgeous, we scoffed 3 courses which we hardly ever do.

After a lovely restful sleep and filling up at breakfast we decided the next morning instead of heading straight home we'd take a detour and go for a drive through La Manga itself. We drove all the way to the end of La Manga and it looked so pretty with the Mar Menor on one side and the Med on the other, like a mini island pointing out to sea. We saw lot's of cool looking bar/restaurants that we definitely want to return too. The majority of them did look closed as it's coming to the end of the season and I guess with Covid it hasn't helped things much. A few did still look open and we're hopefully going to head back soon for lunch in the sun.

La Manga and La Manga Club is definitely one our favourite places here and only about a 45 minute drive from where we are on the Alicante/Murcia border. Have you been to La Manga before? I would definitely recommend a visit if you haven't!

Mil Palmeras

Happy Thursday guys, hope you're all well. I'm just popping on here to show you a few pictures I snapped quickly today while we were at Mil Palmeras Beach. We popped to Mercadona this morning, well more lunchtime(ish) as we are sleeping in so much lately, but that's for another day. So, we picked up a few bits for the weekend and grabbed one of their sushi boxes for our lunch on the go. fyi , the best supermarket sushi I've had! After our trip to Mercadona we headed for Leroy Merlin in La Zenia as we needed to get some more bags of sand and some gravel too for our little diy garden project. I say little, but it's turning into quite the construction! Keep an eye on my  insta stories   over the weekend for updates. En-route to Leroy's we stopped off at Mil Palmeras to eat our sushi by the sea. Mil Palmeras has always been one of our favourite places here on the Costa Blanca South. Actually it was one of the first places we went to after the lockdown last year.  To

Spending ban - Ideas to cutting back...

- this post contains affiliate links - You may have noticed a couple of my tweets recently that I am shamefully on a 'Spending Ban'. Now, this is something both Mark and I have come to agreement on, as looking at our recent credit card statements we I, have been a little too fluid with the spends lately. So, we are putting a little 'ban' on for a few weeks! Seriously do not know how I am going to cope!! Haha... Only joking! But it did get me to thinking though about where to cut back on everyday things and where each of us can save here and there. Especially at the moment where there's hardly any interest on savings and things do seem to be getting more and more expensive! So here's a bit of random list! Nothing in any particular order, just little ideas where we can all cut back in our every day lives! ********** * First of all - I know I said no particular order, but this ones a definite first and then it
