Campoamor Beach

Campoamor Beach has always been one of our favourite spots here on the Costa Blanca South. The two restaurants that sit right on the edge of the beach are La Barraca and Montepiedra. We actually haven't got round to eating in La Barraca yet even though the menu looks beautiful and we have only ever had snacks in Montepiedra, but that aside they're both such perfect places to sit with a coffee, soak up the sea air whilst watching the world go by.

Sadly when we went for a walk there the other day they were both closed up for the season. Covid aside I think they would be closed anyway, as many places do shut from January into February here.

It doesn't stop us from spending time at Campoamor beach though. We love to walk along the beach promenade and then around to the marina.

Back in September 2019 when the 'gota fria' hit it damaged the beach front in Campoamor pretty bad. They've had a temporary wooden walkway there for quite a while now. It was definitely there all through the Summer and the road has been closed in both directions for the whole time too. When we were there on Thursday just gone, it looks like renovations have started to the promenade. So fingers crossed the beach front will all be back to normal soon!

On the far side of the marina is a new and used boat sales office. We did have a look around and surprisingly there was a boat for sale that caught our eye and something we possibly could afford. Very tempting, but when we came away and thought about it properly we probably wouldn't get much use out of it! A very nice idea, but I think we'll stick to going on boat trips rather then having our own! Fun to look around though!

Campoamor beach is very very popular in the Summer with local and oversea tourists. We have people coming down from Madrid for their summer holidays as well as people from across Europe and us Brits too.

Have you been to Campoamor beach before? If you are ever in this part of Spain I'd definitely recommend Campoamor, it's such a lovely area and the beach is beautiful too. We always get that 'holiday' vibe evey time we go there.

Mil Palmeras

Happy Thursday guys, hope you're all well. I'm just popping on here to show you a few pictures I snapped quickly today while we were at Mil Palmeras Beach. We popped to Mercadona this morning, well more lunchtime(ish) as we are sleeping in so much lately, but that's for another day. So, we picked up a few bits for the weekend and grabbed one of their sushi boxes for our lunch on the go. fyi , the best supermarket sushi I've had! After our trip to Mercadona we headed for Leroy Merlin in La Zenia as we needed to get some more bags of sand and some gravel too for our little diy garden project. I say little, but it's turning into quite the construction! Keep an eye on my  insta stories   over the weekend for updates. En-route to Leroy's we stopped off at Mil Palmeras to eat our sushi by the sea. Mil Palmeras has always been one of our favourite places here on the Costa Blanca South. Actually it was one of the first places we went to after the lockdown last year.  To

Looking for compounds in Riyadh

When Mark was first offered the job in Saudi, actually even before that when we were waiting in anticipation for the job to be offered we knew our first choice of accommodation in Riyadh would be on a western compound. We wanted our new place to be a home from home. Even though we have no problem whatsoever with following dress codes or anything and it actually doesn’t bother us in the slightest covering up. We sometimes, because of the world we’re from, being a westerner we wanted that little bit of ‘normality’ from our home life that we’re used too. We like to go on walks in the evening so it’s nice to be able to just pop on your shorts and vest and go for a walk without thinking and also being able to pop to the mini market for a pint of milk and a loaf of bread. Probably one of the biggest reasons for us to live on a compound is that we like to swim, sunbathe and be at the pool together. Which for us is a big part of our life. Another thing we like about compound living is the esca
